Lumo Postal Map

3D-style day/night map with optional postal codes and street names.

Version 1.0.1 · Frameworks QBCore · Qbox · ESX · standalone

Config files · Exports & events

A redesigned, 3D-style map for FiveM's radar and pause map, with optional postal codes and street names. It switches to a night map when the sun goes down, shows Cayo Perico in the same style, and comes with an in-game settings panel so you never have to edit a file.

Features (1.0.1)

  • Four maps, each with a day and a night version, picked in the panel: Standard (clean 3D map), Postals (with postal codes), Street names, and Postals + streets. Postal codes are printed in amber so they never read as street names, and they are nudged clear of the street lettering
  • Day & night: follows the in-game clock (hours are configurable), or stays on day or night. Players can lock their own map with /minimap day | night | auto
  • Cayo Perico on the radar and pause map, in the same palette as the mainland by day and by night. The artwork is two editable YTD files
  • Travel to the island: Cayo's buildings, ground and roads load when a player gets within 2.5 km and unload past 3 km. Players who join on the island are held in place until the ground loads. The pause map always shows the whole map
  • Round radar support: on a round radar, Cayo and other interior radar maps are clipped to the circle instead of showing as a square
  • Solid radar: GTA draws the radar see-through. A backing in the map's colour is drawn under the round and square lumo-ui radar, so the world no longer shows through
  • Sharp pause map: zoom stops before the map tiles turn blurry
  • Settings panel (/mapsettings, admins): centred on screen, previews changes for you before you save them for everyone. Saved settings survive restarts and updates
  • HUD-aware: lumo-ui, qb-hud, ps-hud and similar keep control of radar zoom and shape
  • QBCore, Qbox, ESX and standalone. No SQL, no dependencies

Installation

  1. Put the lumo-postalmap folder into your server's resources folder.
  2. Add this to your server.cfg, after your HUD and framework:
    ensure lumo-postalmap
Admins are detected automatically (see Who counts as an admin).
  3. Remove every other resource that streams minimap files: map-postalmap, other atlas maps, Cayo minimap packs, and any HUD asset pack that streams minimap.gfx, minimap.ytd, minimap_*.ytd or int3232302352.gfx. Two resources streaming the same files override each other.
  4. Restart the server. Players may need to clear their FiveM cache the first time.

The solid square/round radar and the round clip under lumo-ui need lumo-ui's GetRadarRect export (included in current lumo-ui). Other HUDs keep working without it.

Download size: players only download the map your server uses, about 50 MB per map (day and night), fetched the first time it is shown. To make the resource smaller, delete the folders of maps you will never use: stream/postals/ (Postals), stream/streets/ (Street names) or stream/all/ (Postals + streets). That map then shows as "not installed" in the panel and everything else keeps working.

Settings panel

Type /mapsettings (admins only).

SectionSettings
MapStandard, Postals, Street names, or Postals + streets
Day & nightFollow the clock / always day / always night, night and day start hours, let players switch for themselves
Cayo PericoShow the island on the radar and pause map; load the island when players travel there
MinimapSolid round radar, solid square radar (each on its own)
  • Preview (only you): Live / Day / Night shows either map instantly
  • Edits preview for you only until you press Save for everyone
  • Saved settings are kept in the server's KVP store and in saved-settings.json next to the resource, so restarts, updates and cache clears never lose them. Reset to defaults goes back to Config.Defaults in config.lua
  • Typing mapsettings in the server console prints the current settings

Everything else is in config.lua: pause-map zoom limit (Config.MaxMapZoom), radar shape and zoom for servers without a HUD (Config.Radar), island distances (Config.Cayo), command names and debug logging (Config.Debug).

Who counts as an admin

A player can open the panel if any of these match, checked in this order. All of it is in Config.Admin in config.lua:

#CheckWorks onSet up
1Their identifier is in identifierseverythingadd 'license:…' / 'discord:…' to the list
2ACE lumo.postalmap.admin, or the command aceeverythingadd_ace group.admin lumo.postalmap.admin allow. Most servers already have add_ace group.admin command allow
3Framework rank, auto-detectedQBCore, Qbox, ESXnothing: god / admin on QBCore and Qbox, superadmin / admin on ESX

Set commandAce = false or framework = false to make it stricter. In the server console, mapsettings <id> prints whether a player is an admin and why.

Commands

CommandWhoWhat it does
/mapsettingsadminsOpen the settings panel
/minimap day | night | autoeveryoneDay or night map just for you (if allowed in the panel)
/minimapdebugeveryonePrint the active tile set, Cayo state and what is installed (F8 console)

Command names are set in config.lua.

Editing Cayo artwork

Cayo's picture comes only from these two files. Open them in OpenIV or CodeWalker and replace the texture named lumo_cayo inside each (2048 x 2048, RGBA, full mip chain):

  • Day: stream/cayo/day/lumo_cayo.ytd
  • Night: stream/cayo/night/lumo_cayo_n.ytd

Keep the transparent water outside the island, and keep both images on the same canvas so roads and blips stay put when day turns to night. Restart the resource and reconnect.

The game draws the island radar from stream/day/gfx/int3232302352.gfx. Here that file holds no artwork: it is a 9 KB loader (source assets/lumo_cayo_island.as) that shows lumo_cayo from the YTD. At night the client points lumo_cayo at lumo_cayo_n, the same way the mainland tiles switch.

Troubleshooting

The map never changes to night, postals or street names. Run /minimapdebug and open F8. Every installed pack should say installed=true and the listed dictionaries loaded=true. Postal and street tiles are 3-8 MB each and download the first time they are needed, so the switch can take a minute on a first join.

I still see an old or the default map, or blips look wrong. Another resource streams minimap.gfx / minimap.ytd / minimap_*.ytd. Remove those files from it, then clear the FiveM cache (%localappdata%/FiveM/FiveM.app/data/cache).

My HUD's radar zoom keeps resetting. Keep Config.Radar.zoom = 0. If your HUD is in Config.HudResources, zoom and shape are always left to it.

The panel says a map is not installed. Its day and night folders must both be present: stream/postals/, stream/streets/ or stream/all/.
